Health and Safety Officer Program
Each sports club team elects or nominates a person to fulfill the role as their Health and Safety Officer (HSO). The purpose of the HSO program is to provide a liaison between the team and the Rec Sports Athletic Training Room.
Responsibilities
- Attend monthly educational in-services with Rob Wang, the head Athletic Trainer
- Maintain and stock the team’s medical kit
- Manage the team’s travel binder which includes accident and injury reports
- Maintain communication with coaches, captains, and health professionals
- Have up-to-date CPR and First-Aid certification
- Create a beneficial workshop that highlights an aspect of health and safety pertaining to their specific sport.
After fulfilling the requirements of the HSO program students are able to receive the Heath and Safety Certificate acknowledging their leadership in promoting health and safety awareness.
