In late May, the UCSB Alpine Racing team finished first in overall points for a freestyle ski team, alpine ski team, snowboard team and combined ski and snowboard team which resulted in a national championship for the Gauchos. With there biggest competition coming from the University of Colorado, UCSB was able to show that not only can we shred in the water, but we are a force to be reckoning with on the slopes. It was a huge result for the program and was certainly well deserved as these Gauchos put in long and hard hours practicing up in Mammoth Mountain.
Finally, this past week the UCSB Surf team, our most successful Sport Club team, won their 12th National Championship in team history. This staggering number of championships may come as a surprise to many people, but here in Gaucholand we have become accustomed to seeing our surfers hoist the national title. They embody what UCSB Sport Clubs are all about, working hard and playing hard, and have been rewarded as such. A full feature on their most recent title will be available on Gauchosplay shortly.
Congrats to all our National Champions!

The UCSB Sport Club program has excelled on the national stage yet again by securing three national championships this past season. The champagne celebrations started in the Fall as our women's club soccer team continued their unprecedented dominance by winning their third national title in as many years. They entered the tournament unseeded and left with the gold medal. Upcoming this fall our lady Gauchos will be on the hunt for a 4-peat, something that even our historic program has never witnessed.
