Have you ever wanted to explore the cracks and crevices of the Santa Ynez Mountains or venture the Santa Barbara coast in a kayak? If so, UC Santa Barbara’s Adventure Programs has just the activities for you! UCSB’s Adventure Programs gives students the opportunities to meet new people while discovering the cosmic wonders of nature. We offer many different outdoor programs for students to take part in, including kayaking, rock climbing, canyoneering, outdoor trips and much more.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create leaders, educate, and build a strong community of people who share the love for the outdoors. Our goal is to inspire participants to exceed their own limits and to motivate participants to break existing barriers while encouraging them to push themselves to surpass the unexpected. We encourage an acceptable level of risk; however, we keep safety as our main priority.
Goals for Participants
- Experience nature as an educational and enjoyable adventure
- Forge lasting relationships with others who share common interests
- Gain a better sense of the UCSB community
- Learn environmental stewardship through the practice of Leave No Trace (LNT)
- Balance the wild outdoors with an acceptable level of risk
